| HISTORY |
Grace Community Church was planted in July 1996. The church began in a member's home with eight people. The text for that initial service was, and our continual philosophy of ministry has been built around, Paul's words in Colossians 1:28, "And we proclaim Him, admonishing every man and teaching every man with all wisdom, that we may present every man complete in Christ."
After four weeks, meetings were moved to Mandarin Middle School in Jacksonville, Florida. Since then, the Lord has blessed the church tremendously with both spiritual and numerical growth. Currently, families gather from all areas of Jacksonville, to Mandarin, one of Jacksonville's subdivisions. These families come with a common desire to grow in Christ-likeness through the study of the God's Word, the Bible. Many have come to know Jesus Christ as their personal Lord and Savior as God has given increase to His church. It is truly exciting to see the Lord work!
In 1999, the Lord enabled us to purchase eight acres of land adjacent to the future site of a city park. Through a gracious gift, the land was paid off that same year. In the fall of 2002, construction began on phase one of Grace Community Church, and in March of 2003, work was completed and the first service was held in the new building on Resurrection Sunday.
Over the years, God has blessed us greatly by continuing to assemble a body of believers who have a tremendous passion for Him and His Word. He continues to raise up leaders within this body who are committed to doing God's business God's way. And we are constantly seeing both sinner and saint being transformed through the marvelous ministry of the Word of God.
From the inception of this ministry, Ephesians 3:20 has been an oft-quoted reminder of His limitless ability. Grace Church has continually remembered that our God "is able to do exceedingly abundantly above all that we ask or think." Truly the Lord is good!
Now to the One who has loved, espoused, received, purchased, washed, favored, clothed, and adorned us, when we were worthless, vile, soiled, and polluted; to Him be glory and honor forever and ever!
